Highway Heart, Route 128, Danvers, MA, (2006- 2012)

The Highway Heart is a public artwork in response to the traffic and road rage experienced on Route 128 on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Where the heart sign was placed is where the original abandoned road sign lives. My heart sign was hung over the original, replacing abandonment and adding the universal message of peace in the context of the universally recognized green highway road sign. This artwork quickly gained the interest of commuters traveling on this Highway. Not to long after the Community News Paper started asking questions about the mysterious sign and its maker. I came forward to the Salem News to let them know about my intentions and motivations for this sign and clear up any confusion. I was able to turn the brief popularity of the highway heart into a charity called “ The Highway Heart”. Through my website I was able to sell car bumper magnets in the likeness of the actual sign. All sales were then donated to the United Way of Massachusetts Bay.
